Former Republican lawmaker offers a blistering assessment of Trump in his DNC speech

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a Republican from Illinois, gave a prime-time speech supporting Vice President Kamala Harris instead of his party's nominee, Donald Trump.

Kinzinger admitted that aligning with Democrats was an “awkward alliance,” but he did it to “defend truth, democracy, and decency.”

He has been a vocal critic of Trump, saying the former president has "suffocated the soul of the Republican party."

Kinzinger urged people to vote for Kamala Harris, despite having policy disagreements with her.

He emphasized that disagreements on policies are less important than fundamental principles, decency, and loyalty to the nation. –

The Harris campaign, like Biden’s before, has been trying to win over moderate Republicans & independents who are skeptical of Trump.

A group of Republicans, including Kinzinger, have formed "Republicans for Harris" and recently held an online rally.

Kinzinger said he lost faith in Trump after the events of January 6th and felt a “profound sorrow.”
